Once upon a time, not so very long ago........

Little Leon was born with a poorly heart. This made his Mummy and Daddy sad and they decided to search for a special friend who would keep Little Leon company and look after him while he was in hospital.............

Parties, picnics and being poorly!

well it's been an eventful couple of weeks since we got back off holiday. After making sure that Grandma & Grandad were back settles at home until they jet off again, Little Leon decided it was time to get back on the social scene so it was time to party.!

Party Time!
It was Cousin Cara's birthday so off they all went to the scout hut and much fun was had by all, they played with a Big Parachute and balls, pass the Parcel and lots of running about!  Of course there was the compulsory cake eating (Little Leon likes that bit the most!) and much fun was had by all!
mmmm sweetie snack between cakes!
The week before easter, Leon was fighting off the nasty viral bug that's been doing the rounds, but it eventually got the better of him (despite industrial doses of ibuprofen!!) and his temperature decide to hit three figures and gave mummy and daddy a bit of a scare. Anyway, after a few days all seemed to settle down and the prospect of the Easter bunny visiting seemed to raise his spirits, and he picked up quite a bit.
Now, the Easter bunny had been busy and laid a trail of eggs at Nostell Priory, and Uncle Tony, Aunty Nic, Jas, Cara, Paul and Helen and the Kids, mummy, daddy & Little Leon all decided to go and have a picnic and find the eggs!

The egg hunting took us passed the play area and of course mummy wanyed to play and the swings and slide so little Leon had to go and make sure she didn't get into any bother!
we took a picnic and we all sat around and had sandwiches and crisps, oh and cake of course! It soon became apparant that little Leon hadn't fully recovered as he went a lovely shade of grey and looked pretty crap, so we left Jasmine in charge of egg hunting and went back home for snuggles and sleepy.

Saturday morning brought a problem of a different kind, as daddy tried to get out of bed, his back had other ideas and decided to go into spasm, best part of 2 hours later I had finally got out of bad and was in a great deal of pain so decided to gp to A& E where i was told i had damaged the ligaments in my back and had to avoid any heavy lifting and vigorous exercise  (as I had spent the last 30 years avoiding doing this it was not going to be that much of an issue) So i was despatched with drugs in hand and spent the day feeling rubbish, Another visit to a& e a few days later because of no improvement saw me leave with more (stronger) drugs which now seem to be working!  Little Leon was a star giving me a hug when needed and being a good boy. Just to compound the crap week mummy has got tonsillitis, so what a week we're having.

So, next couple of bank hols, weather and health permitting a trip to the seaside or maybe a ride on a Steam Train is in order, Watch this space for more adventures!

Little Leon goes to see Grandma!

Woohoo, Little Leon has just returned from seeing far away Grandma, Nothing too unusual in that you say, but when Grandma is 7000 miles away its a bit of an adventure!
Grandma. thrilled to see Little Leon!

Now, travelling with small children on holiday brings it's challenges, throw in a Life limiting /  threatening condition as well and it becomes a combination of a major expedition and a medical research trip.  People have questioned the wisdom of us going away on such a long trip, but for us the benefits far outweigh any risk, plus with a little research and some careful planning it can all go relatively smoothly. We had a head start in that we know the area well, knew the hospitals, plus had a small network of local people who could answer questions we couldn't find answers to from here. This was our third trip to Malaysia with Leon, and on each trip he grows more adventurous and becomes more aware of the different culture he is surrounded by.
We have a lovely hotel we stay in, great views, on the beach and in a great location for sightseeing.

View from the balcony at night
Leon spent every morning chasing Grandad, stealing his stick and throwing it in the pool for daddy to retrieve, then went nearly swimming for an hour or so (or until he turned into a smurf, despite the hot temperature). We then went out for lunch and did a bit of sightseeing before having a siesta and then going out for tea.

It;s the little things that bring the most fun, A bus trip is a whole big adventure, bringing new sights and making new friends.

Woohoo we're on a bus!
Malaysia is great for many things, Penang especially for its food. Some of the best food i have eaten has been here, its combination of Malay, Indian and chinese is irresistible and you are never more than 5 minutes away from great local hawker (street) food. Leon loves trying different ones,

although not all are to his (still developing) taste buds delight!
And what the hell was in that!
As well as the food, the wildlife is very diverse, we regularly had a Sea eagle fly past the hotel balcony
Eagle!!!

One of the trips we went on was to the butterfly farm, Leon has great fun pretending he was an adventurer in the jungle (daddy skipped the Bug bit)

Great fun was had by all.
It was great to spend uninterrupted time with family and friends, to eat, drink, laugh, such things are priceless, and with ageing grandparents, more precious every year..

Time to relax and recharge the batteries, sadly goes too quickly, but we look forward to our next adventure

Till next time, remember "One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching."
